Site Description: Cal-cheak is a first come first served campsite, no reservation system exists. A campsite fee of $15 is charged from April 1st to October 31st annually.. (AKA Cal-cheak FSR). Travel about 100m to the first campsite. There are three groups of sites, the first one is called "Callaghan Camp", then the North and South Sites.

Cal-cheak is a first come first served campsite; no reservation system exists. There are over 55 campsites to chose from in 3 separate areas between Callaghan Creek and Cheakamus River. Many sites are large enough for RV's, but there are no power or sewage services on site. This site is heavily treed, and provides lots of shade in the hot summer.

Unfortunately, all campsites that could be reserved were already booked. The only option was to go early to one of the recreation sites and try our luck with the 'first come first serve' campground. Recreation Sites and Trails BC

Cal-Cheak is a first come first served campsite so making a reservation in advance is not possible, however, during the week finding a spot is usually possible. Weekends and holidays fill up quickly, as the campsite is inexpensive ($13/night) and is in close proximity to hiking and biking trails, Brandywine Falls, and nearby lakes.

Cal-Cheak. Cal-Cheak is a great campground with 55 sites set in the natural beauty of the National Forest. Some sites can fit RV's, but this is primitive camping which means no electricity or sewer. Camping here is a great option since it is only CAD 13 per night and hiking trails and rock are climbing nearby.

Immediately on your right is the Cal-Cheak Campsite - park in the big open parking lot. The put in is accessed on the paved river right road. The put in is at the Callaghan/Cheakamus confluence, where you quickly run the Cal-Cheak down to the head of the canyon. Turning off highway 99 at the Daisy Lake FSR (follow the signs for Whistler Bungee) you can put in at a number of places including the Cal-Cheak campsite or the bridge over the Cheakamus about 1 km from the highway.

Cal-Cheak Recreation Site has a 4.3 rating. It was fairly easy to manoeuvre in pitch black at midnight, but it was raining and our campsite was flooded so we never got the chance to stay. I'm the morning we took the little hike and found the suspension bridge which was very beautiful! Directory.

This is as close as you can get to backcountry camping within a developed campsite. Cal-Cheak has large signage visible from HWY 99. Heading south from Whistler the turn-off is just before the main road to the Callaghan Valley, about 20 minutes past Whistler Village. You'll need to do a U-turn here, as there's no turning left on the highway.
